The New Black: Pu’er Black Tea (Shou Ripe Pu’er Tea) 100g Cake

$28.00

This is an aged tea that was then compressed into a cake after undergoing some wonderful fermentation and developing some delicious flavor notes that are not common in a Ripe Pu’er. This tea is known for its health benefits and its unique and pleasant flavors.

This is not a “forest floor dank mushroom” Pu’er, it is much more fruity and bold with the flavor of dried berries or prunes. You will be shocked with how wonderful a Ripe Pu’er can be once you try this.

This tea has matured to perfection since it was picked back in the Spring of 2012. As we know, Pu’er only gets better with time, and this tea is a wonderful example of that.  This tea was picked in Spring of 2012 and left to age until 2013. It was then lightly fermented over 4 months in order to carry the fresh tea taste while still bringing a wonderful earthy character. The aroma is very sweet like dried apricots and the liquor is the color of Rosé wine. The tea can can be brewed at boiling temperatures or cold brewed, and everything in-between. The tea is low in caffeine so it is okay to drink before bed and has a nice energy to it that helps relax the body.  Easy to brew upwards of 15 pots of tea from one small serving of this tea.

It is literally exactly as they describe it. Super light color, not dank like some funky dirty soy sauce, and really sweet. They sent a little card with it that said to brew it at 180 degrees. I didn’t at first, but when I had another tea session I tried it, and it was actually really sweet that way. A good tea for the price, especially if you like puerh.

The best ripe Puer I have tasted. Crisp, beautiful, fragrant and pleasant in the mouth. There is no going back to other ripe Puer teas after this one!

I usually don’t care much for Pu’er but I got one when it was released so saved about $5. Anyway, its really good. 5 stars

I had the honor of acquiring some of this fine tea loose. I then was able to really play around with different pots and water temperatures. The first thing I noticed was how ‘clean’ this Shou is. The next thing was how strong the Cha Qi was. This tea is delicious. I served it to many different people and they all enjoyed it, even those that would never take the time to understand what it really is…..each claimed that this is good ‘tea’. I watch the Qi creep over one friend and all he could do was grin and say how good this tea made him feel. The next thing he said was that he had to get some. It lead him to buy his first Yixing pot just to brew it the way it had been served to him. This is the finest Ripe Pu-erh that I know of that can be shipped to your door. I have wasted so much money on poor quality Shou that I had to throw away. Please do yourselves a favor and try this fine example of controlled fermentation.
